Dubai’s acclaimed Japanese restaurant, 3 Fils, is set to expand its culinary footprint with a new location in Abu Dhabi.
The independent eatery, known for its Asian-inspired small plates and casual dining atmosphere, will open its doors in the Abu Dhabi EDITION hotel in Al Bateen Marina later this year.
The Abu Dhabi venue will span three floors and feature two terraces offering views of the marina and Arabian Gulf. This marks a significant expansion for the restaurant, which has operated from its original location in Jumeirah Fishing Harbour since 2016.
3 Fils has garnered numerous accolades since its inception. In 2017, it was named Homegrown Restaurant of the Year at the What’s On Dubai Awards. The restaurant further cemented its reputation by being recognized as the best restaurant in the Middle East at the inaugural MENA 50 Best Restaurants awards in 2022. It also received a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2023.
Founded by two Emiratis and Singaporean chef Akmal Anuar, 3 Fils is known for its no-reservations policy and relaxed dress code. The menu features fresh seafood, sushi, and a popular Wagyu burger. While Anuar has moved on to other projects, chef Freddy Kazadi now leads the kitchen.
Ahmed Abdul Hakim, founder of 3 Fils, stated, “Expanding to Abu Dhabi is a natural progression for us, given the tremendous support and love we’ve received in Dubai. We aim to redefine the culinary landscape in Abu Dhabi, just as we have in Dubai.”
The exact opening date for 3 Fils Abu Dhabi has not been announced, but it is expected to welcome diners sometime in 2024. This expansion represents a significant step for the home-grown brand as it brings its unique dining concept to a new market in the UAE capital.
