All roads lead to the UAE as the world’s best cyclists descend here for seven days of extreme competition.
The inaugural UAE Tour – made possible with the merging of Dubai Tour and Abu Dhabi Tour – happening from 24th February to 2nd March will feature 18 UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) World Teams from different parts of the globe.
Just some of the participants to watch out for include six-time Grand Champion, Chris Froome, and last year’s Abu Dhabi Tour winner and UCI Road World Champion, Alejandro Valverde.
The gruelling race will take place across the UAE, presenting riders various terrain challenges to overcome – from wild sandy dunes to rugged mountain surfaces.
To give you an idea, the total 1,090-kilometre route will cover Al Hudayriat Island, Yas Mall to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain to Jebel Hafeet, Dubai to Hatta Dam, Sharjah to Khor Fakkan, Ajman to Jebel Jais and Dubai Safari Park to Dubai City Walk.
In related news, authorities have announced road closures in different areas to clear the way for riders during the race. You can visit www.theuaetour.com/2019-uae-tour-road-closures-schedule/ to know the affected routes and timings of closures.
