During the Holy month of Ramadan, Muslims who are fasting, break their fast when the sun comes down.
This evening meal is called iftar and devotees partake in its observance by sharing a meal with friends and families.
Here in the UAE, Muslims and non-Muslims are spoilt with choices when it comes to places – from independent restaurants to hotel outlets – serving iftar meals.
In line with the season’s spirit, the Shangri-La Group has announced its ‘Sharing the Flavours’ campaign from 5th May to 4th June.
Guests dining for iftar at Sofra in Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri and Afya in Traders Hotel will be glad to know that portion of their meal purchase will be donated to help feed less privileged kids in Lebanon, Palestine and Yemen.
Another option is to mark iftar at hotels under the Marriott brand in the UAE. Over 20 hotels including Marriott Hotel Downtown and Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi are on board to donate portions of its iftar proceeds to Al Jalila Foundation.
