World Class Cricket Is Coming to Abu Dhabi

World Class Cricket

World Class cricket is heating up the sporting scenes in Abu Dhabi as the season cools down.

Two events that easily come to mind are the Mubadala World Tennis Championship and Abu Dhabi Golf Championship happening later this year.

But there’s another big sporting spectacle that will be swinging around in the capital – and it’s happening next month.

Abu Dhabi T10, the widely anticipated cricket tournament featuring some of the sport’s best athletes are gearing up for an explosive showdown.

The tournament is set to take place from 14th to 24th November at Zayed Cricket Stadium here in Abu Dhabi.

What is Abu Dhabi T10

The competition is a professional ten-over format cricket league launched by T10 Sports Management and licensed by the Emirates Cricket Board and approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body of international cricket.

It is the first ever internationally approved ten-over format league.

Matches have ten-over-a-side format and duration of 45 minutes a side, totaling 90 minutes of play.

The tournament is played over ten days, with a round robin followed by semi-finals and the final.

In August 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially sanctioned the league.

What’s in it this year?

Cricket fans are in for a massive treat as some of the sport’s biggest names and teams are confirmed to compete.

Some of these include England’s ICC World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan, Australian star Shane Watson, West Indian Andre Russell, Sri-Lankan ‘slinger’ Lasith Malinga and Darren Sammy.

A few event highlights to watch out for are Northern Warriors beginning their title defence against Maratha Arabians on opening day.

The same day will see Eoin Morgan lead the Delhi Bulls into battle against the Deccan Gladiators, while Shahid Afridi makes his return to T10 for the newly-joined Qalandars.

“Apart from the final on 24th November, every match day boasts a triple header of matches, giving fans an incredible and unique opportunity to watch 66 world-class players battle it out on any given evening,” beams Matthew Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket.

“That’s why we love this format – explosive cricketing entertainment mixed with cultural performances all in an explosive five-hour evening. It’s going to be action-packed right from the start.”

How to watch?

Tickets to catch the event are very affordable. For AED 10, fans and spectators can get to watch three matches a day.

All Abu Dhabi T10 matches will be telecast live to Sony Network’s enormous Indian viewer base of 700 million on Sony Six and Sony Ten 3 channels. To book tickets, or to receive hospitality information,  visit: www.ttensports.com
