A Long Weekend Ahead On Account Of The Islamic New Year

UAE has confirmed a three-day holiday for public and private sectors for the Islamic New Year.

The Islamic New Year or the Hijri New Year will fall on the following weekend. Hijri which means migration marks 1422 years since Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and his followers migrated from Makkah to Madinah.

To celebrate the Islamic New Year, the ministry has announced that Sunday, 23rd August will be declared a public holiday for all sectors. Staff will have to return to work only on 24th August Monday.

After this there are a few expected holidays in October and December for the Prophet Muhammed’s (PBUH) Birthday and the UAE National Day respectively.
