Travel Made A Lot More Easy At The Abu Dhabi International Airport

The Abu Dhabi International Airport is working on introducing ‘Smart Features’ to expedite the journey of passengers.

The Abu Dhabi International Airport has partnered with ConvergentAI and has been dabbling with artificial intelligence to help shorten queues and create a seamless passenger experience. The team have been working to examine all processes in the airport from check-in and immigration, counter staffing to passenger arrival and departure times.

In fact, they will be soon trying out the system with actual travellers. Select people from Etihad Airways will be requested to arrive the airport at a certain time before their flight to see how staggering passenger arrivals will help the system in reducing crowds, allow for social distancing and in turn create shorter queues and faster operation in the airport.

Shareef Al Hashmi, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “Innovation and digitalization are key to the achievement of our vision of becoming the world’s leading airports group, and I am proud of the exceptional work our teams have performed over the past year as we transform our operations and strive to deliver a truly superior and seamless passenger experience. The enhancement of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Smart Travel system is a significant step in our journey of continuous improvement and innovation as we shape the future airport experience.”

John Barton, Chief Information Officer said: “Minimising queuing at airports is key to safeguarding passenger health and wellbeing and streamlining operations, which is why we are working with our airline partners and ConvergentAI to precisely model our passengers’ journeys and improve them at every step.”

“By enabling passengers to quickly and seamlessly transition through check-in, immigration and boarding, we are providing them with more time to enjoy everything Abu Dhabi International Airport has to offer, from first-rate dining to superior duty-free offerings,” added Barton.

The introduction of AI into the Abu Dhabi International Airport is still nascent but on the path to become a part of all the varied functions and systems. Soon enough, there will be programmes that help monitor real-time imagery of aircraft, refueling aircraft, strengthen security and other facets of the airport. This collaboration no doubt will help the UAE enhance the aviation experience for the authorities and the travellers.
