National Sterilisation Programme to commence from tomorrow 19th July

Abu Dhabi will begin an emirate-wide National Sterilisation Programme from tomorrow Monday 19th July, with strict curfews in place between midnight and 5 am.

Residents and citizens will only be allowed to leave their homes during this time to stock up on essential supplies, namely food and medicine, and only with a special permit which can be applied for.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has launched the National Sterilisation Programme in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, starting from 19th July, Monday as part of efforts to protect public health and prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Restaurants, cafés, gyms (including gyms in hotels), spas in hotels, museums and entertainment centres in the capital will operate at 50 percent capacity during the National Sterilisation Programme, while public beaches and parks, as well as private swimming pools and beaches, will also be operating at half their usual volume to ensure no further spread of Coronavirus. Time to put all plans to hold!.

Authorities went on to add that shopping malls will operate at 40 percent capacity and cinemas at 30 percent.

Public buses and taxi’s will run at 50 percent capacity, and only three people are permitted to ride in a five-passenger taxi, and four in a seven-seater.

Public transport will be unavailable during sterilisation hours.
