The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi was established in February 2012 by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to replace Abu Dhabi’s two main tourism and culture agencies, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.
His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: “On behalf of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, I would like to wish the UAE and countries around the world a happy, safe and prosperous 2021. We greatly look forward to continue welcoming the world to Abu Dhabi, a goal that sits at the heart of our vision.
This past year has proven to be uniquely testing for all industries, including the culture and tourism sectors. Nevertheless, I am proud of the extraordinary resilience that our community, partners and our team at DCT Abu Dhabi have shown. Driven by a spirit of unity and collaboration, we have achieved extraordinary feats, despite the challenges.
Our community’s, visitors’ and teams’ well-being has been a top priority for us, leading us to think more creatively about how to ensure that Abu Dhabi remains not only an innovative city, but also one of the safest ones in the world. We have delivered solutions that leveraged our digital capabilities to grant greater access to our cultural content, enforced stringent health and safety measures Abu Dhabi-wide and have spearheaded initiatives that have gained global recognition.
As we reflect on 2020, there have been plenty of lessons learned along the way – but despite the challenges we have faced, we seized the opportunity to grow. In the new year, we look forward to welcoming visitors to our Emirate once again and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global destination.”
We wish the residents of Abu Dhabi all the happiness and blessings this 2021.
