Eid Al Fitr Holiday Announcement

Exciting news for UAE private sector employees as the Eid Al Fitr holiday has been announced. This year, workers can look forward to a four or five-day break, starting from Monday, 08th April, depending on the sighting of the new moon.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has confirmed that employees will enjoy paid leave from the 29th day of Ramadan until the third day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. With Eid Al Fitr beginning on the first day of Shawwal, workers will have either a four-day or five-day break, depending on the duration of Ramadan.

If Ramadan lasts for 29 days, the holiday will end on Thursday, 11th April, and work will resume on Friday, 12th April. However, if Ramadan extends to 30 days, the holiday will conclude on Friday, 12th April, with work resuming on Monday, 15th April.

Additionally, the UAE Cabinet has directed that federal government staff will also enjoy paid leave from Monday, 08th April, until Sunday, 14th April, with work resuming on Monday, 15th April.

This announcement could mean a holiday of up to nine days for some private sector employees when including the weekends around the Eid break.

The exact starting date of Eid Al Fitr will be confirmed by the UAE’s Moon-sighting committee, ensuring alignment with federal government holiday dates.
