Parked on Yas Island is the first Ferrari-branded theme park in the world.
Opening its doors on 4th November 2010, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi occupies over 20 acres of land space well enough to accommodate an array of thrilling rides.
The park’s unique theme complements another nearby attraction, the Yas Marina Circuit or better known as the home of the annual Formula 1 race.
But there’s more to this attraction than its impressive red domed steel roof and iconic brand name. Here are some other facts worth knowing about one of the UAE’s popular modern amusement parks…
- The Formula Rossa – known as the world’s fastest roller coaster with top speed of 240 km/h – is located here.
- Ferrari World Abu Dhabi features over 37 rides and attractions including the Flying Aces (the world’s tallest non-inverting loop), Fiorano GT Challenge and Scuderia Challenge.
- The park has garnered numerous awards and recognitions including the Middle East’s Leading Theme Park in 2017 and the region’s Leading Tourist Attraction in 2016 by the World Travel Awards and the region’s Best Theme Park in 2018 by the Middle East and North Africa Leisure and Attraction Council or MENALAC.
- Sophia, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot, visited the park in October last year to try the Formula Rossa. She even posted her photo on Twitter and asked her followers to caption it.
- In August 2015, a feel-good story involving Ferrari World Abu Dhabi went viral after an Irish tourist named, Liam Murphy, treated taxi driver, Shakiha, to an experience of a lifetime by paying for his ticket so he could ride the Formula Rossa.
