First ever public exhibition of a Stradivarius violin to the UAE

World-famous Japanese violinist Lena Yokoyama will play on 22nd February

Award winning violinist Lena Yokoyama will bring the first ever public exhibition of a Stradivarius violin to the UAE. The important event will take place at the Italian Cultural Institute Abu Dhabi. The important event will feature a Golden Bell 1668 violin by Antonio Stradivari.

A Stradivarius violin has been publicly displayed in the UAE from 5.30 pm on 22nd February. It will feature a 15 minutes performance and attendance is free for all guests.

The instrument has been created by globally admired violin maker Antonio Stradivari. The prestigious instrument is an example of traditional Cremonese violin making.

Before the event, the violinist Lena Yokoyama will meet the most talented students of the International Music Institute Abu Dhabi directed by Maestro Aldo Dotto .

You will find the Mayor of the city of Cremona and the director of the city’s legendary Violin Museum.

The most talented students of the International Music Institute Abu Dhabi will meet the violinist Lena Yokoyama before the event.

Admired across the world for her elegant notes and natural talent, Lena studied in Cremona, Italy. She has amazing sold out shows across Europe, Japan and New York.

Lena has also collaborated with iconic musicians such as Claudio Monteverdi and Amilcare Ponchielli.

To this day in Cremona more than two hundred lute workshops continue the tradition of Antonio Stradivari (d. 1737), Andrea and Nicolò Amati (XVI century), Andrea and Pietro Guarneri (XVII-XVIII centuries).

This year the city of Cremona celebrates “The art of violin making”, a Lombard excellence recognized throughout the world.
