Time to broaden your knowledge of Korean culture through the Korea Festival that highlights much about the ‘Land of the Morning Calm’.
Happening from 15th October to 9th November is the Korea Festival hosted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The event is backed up the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development of the United Arab Emirates.
This is not the first time the event will be staged, having been around since 2013 as representation of friendly ties between the UAE and Korea.
The objective is to promote mutual respect and understanding through arts and culture.
Raising the curtain this year is an art exhibition titled Year of Tolerance at the Cultural Foundation in Al Hosn.
Prominent seasoned artists from the National Academy of Arts of Korea will bring their artworks bearing the values of tolerance.
The Cultural Foundation will also be the venue for the first part of K-Music Night on 24th October featuring Dubai Arabic Orchestra, UAE’s opera singer Fatima Alhashemi and GongMyoung and 2nd Moon from Korea.
Capping off the night is K-Pop boy band D-Crunch.
Fast forward to 7th November and K-Music Night will see popular K-Pop group B.I.G or Boys in Groove. For starters, the group turned heads with their nice covers of Arabic hit songs including ‘Boshret Kheir’ by Emirati singer Hussan Al Jassmi.
Buddhist monk Jeong Kwan will stage a special cooking class on 1st November for the public and pro chefs on 3rd November at the Korean Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi. Jeong will share her temple food recipes and philosophy.
The monk-cook will hold another cooking class on 5th November for those curious about Baru Gongyang or formal monastic meal.
For those in Dubai, a related event titled Korea Brand and Content Expo 2019 will take place from 16th to 18th October at Dubai World Trade Center.
The said event will showcase Korean brands and items. But even more exciting are the guest performers taking the stage including popular Korean acts such as SEVENTEEN, SF9 and actress Ha Ji Won.
