The historic Liwa Date Festival is back for its 20th year, renewing its showcase of Emirati agricultural heritage and culture in the Al Dhafra region.

From July 15-28, Liwa City will come alive with dates, local produce, and competitive events promoting the farming traditions of this community.

Date growers will vie in fruit basket, branch, and overall contests.

In addition to glimpsing stunning model farms and handicrafts, families can enjoy free roaming entertainment including food stalls, activities, and concerts.

Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the festival offers insight into the region’s rich traditions.

While in Liwa, visitors can also see the iconic city sign – recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest at 23.5 meters atop a 197-meter hill.

For two decades, the Liwa Date Festival has been a cherished experience bringing Emirati culture and agriculture to the forefront.

This year promises new heights as the festival celebrates 20 memorable years of connecting communities to their roots.
