The exhibition, curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, first premiered in Istanbul in 2017 and will showcase work from new artists while keeping core works from the earlier exhibits too.

Speaking about the event, NYUAD Art Gallery Executive Director Maya Allison said the artists were encouraged to tailor their works for each region and that the works will reflect interpretations of this idea:

“At a time when most travel has been curtailed due to the pandemic, will the concept of ‘region’ shift in light of our heightened virtual existence, across time-zones?” she added.

The original exhibition of Ways of Seeing back in September 2018 at The NYUAD Art Gallery then brought together 26 artists through 41 pieces of work, featuring a variety of media from painting, sculpture, and photography to sound, film, and installation.

This online TRACE: Archives and Reunions series aims to recreate a similar enriching experience. The expo will be complemented by the online release of an extensive photo archive, published materials, the exhibition brochure, and a Youth Guide for audiences to delve into and engage with.

The NYUAD team have made sure that the exhibition launch is supplemented with a range of materials that you can explore to enjoy the full extent of the artworks.

You don’t need to be an art buff to soak in this creative amalgamation, so make sure you check them out.
