Exciting news for visitors to Abu Dhabi! The iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is now welcoming guests around the clock, unveiling captivating night tours for those in transit or with limited time in the capital.
Introducing the mosque’s new Sura Evening Cultural Tours, participants have the unique opportunity to uncover hidden gems within the mosque, including behind-the-scenes glimpses of maintenance and cleaning works.
The night tours, designed for groups of up to 20 people, offer a rich cultural experience at a cost of Dh20 per visitor. To enhance the exploration, multimedia guide devices are provided, available in 14 international languages with options catering to the visually impaired and the deaf.
While regular visiting hours, from 9 am to 9:30 pm, remain free of charge, the night tours offer an exclusive and convenient way to witness the grandeur of this architectural marvel.
Completed in 2007, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque stands as the largest of its kind in the UAE, spanning an impressive 22,000 square metres and accommodating over 40,000 worshippers at once. Beyond its religious significance, the mosque serves as a tribute to the UAE Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, showcasing his values, memory, and contributions to humanity.
A true cultural gem, the mosque attracted over 3 million visitors during the first six months of 2023 alone, marking a remarkable 127% increase from the previous year. It has hosted numerous heads of states and official foreign delegations, including visits from Prince Charles and Camilla in 2007, Queen Elizabeth II in 2010, and a return visit by Prince Charles in 2016.
