Much as Abu Dhabi embraces the concept of progress, it also puts utmost importance on preserving its natural resources.

None of this is more evident than in the Mangroves or more known as the Mangrove National Park located within Abu Dhabi city.

The sprawling area is a tropical paradise, with a rich variety of animal and plant species calling it home.

  • The Mangrove National Park comprises 75 per cent of the total mangrove forest area in the UAE.

  • Being home to the country’s most ecological resources, the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) is tasked to oversee the protection and preservation of the area.

  • The park has more than 19 square kilometres of forest.

  • There are more than 60 species of birds that call this area home. Just some of these species include greater flamingo, grey mangrove, mottled crab and western reef heron.

By providing a safe haven and shelter to marine species, the mangroves play an important role in boosting the country’s fish stocks.
