Travel Rules For Entering Abu Dhabi Have Been Revised

Abu Dhabi residents can now take 48 hour trips outside the emirate as long as they have a negative test result done before their trip starts.

The first set of rules stated that residents who left Abu Dhabi would have to be screened again in a clinic outside Abu Dhabi to return back despite it being a day trip. The rules have become more flexible allowing motorists to use the one result from Abu Dhabi to leave and return as long as they return in 48 hours.

You still need your test results in hand or on your phone to show the police officers at the checkpoints. The results can also be shown via the Al Hosn app. “Those leaving Abu Dhabi for short periods may visit a screening centre in the emirate to conduct a Covid-19 test before departing and present the result on return,” Abu Dhabi Government Media Office said.

While the rules have changed they are in place to discourage any unnecessary travel. Cases may not be on the rise but there are still cases being reported and these regulations are in place to contain the virus as the economy slowly opens up to the public.

These rules will not apply to people who are travelling for medical help with kidney-related issues and children under 12 years. So read up, before you embark on your travel and plan in advance as the testing centers are busy on the weekends.
